english

As a Singaporean Malay, English is naturally my second but fluent language. My skills in English poetry isn't as refined, but I still do want to try to dive in the art and be better at it.

in these waters

This river may I float on its sheer harsh sheet
One that thee pour down on nothing but regret
Pull these sheets away and let me drown deep
As water for once permits me to forget

this life of mine

Me, I forbid you, my little heart
To beat for a forbidden melody.

Me, I forbid you, my careless mind
To think of the forbidden thoughts.

This life I live forbidden
Of all the things I crave.

This ravenous self
But nothing worth to fill.

This life I make forbidden
Shall be the life I live forgotten.

For it is neither one worth loving
Nor is it one worth a thought.

why this weather?

I walked down the sombre streets

Greeting the wind passing by

The sudden growl of the greying skies

Surprised my ever soulless eyes

Heavy showers started to sing

A melody I could not bear

Dancing on my shaky skin

Like tears of a mother's despair

The cold air that pierced my heart

Pushed and pulled and tore me apart

Dampened drenched saddened wrenched

Oh this depression could not end!

A broken heart you could not fix

Shattered and fooled you with so many tricks

One too many making you cry a river

Oh this weather why must I suffer!
